Do you know those days when everything just clicks? When you look at the clock and hours have passed in what feels like minutes? That’s the magic of living in alignment with your energy boosters and natural flow states – and it’s what we’re diving into today.
In my recent YouTube video, I walked through a complete Energy Audit exercise, but today I want to focus on the two most transformative elements: Energy Boosters and Natural Flow. These powerful forces not only make life more enjoyable but also serve as your compass to authentic living.
Energy Boosters: Your Personal Fuel Stations
Think of Energy Boosters as your personal recharging stations. These are the activities, people, places, and experiences that leave you feeling more alive than when you started. They don’t deplete your batteries – they fill them up!
Your Energy Boosters might include:
- That morning walk that clears your head before the day begins
- The friend whose calls you always answer with a genuine smile
- The creative project that makes your heart beat a little faster
- That neighborhood café where the ambiance just feels right
- The podcast that leaves you buzzing with new ideas
When you consciously incorporate these elements into your life, something magical happens: you begin operating from a place of abundance rather than depletion.
Natural Flow: Where Effortless Meets Effective
Natural Flow states are even more powerful. These are the activities where you lose track of time, where effort seems to disappear, and where you feel most authentically yourself.
Flow states might look like:
- Writing that feels more like transcribing thoughts than creating them
- Conversations where words come easily and hours pass like minutes
- Work projects where challenges feel stimulating rather than stressful
- Physical activities where your body seems to know exactly what to do
- Creative pursuits where ideas connect effortlessly
Why They Matter: The Authenticity Connection
Here’s the thing about Energy Boosters and Flow states – they’re not just pleasant experiences. They’re signposts pointing directly to your authentic self.
When something genuinely energizes you or puts you in a flow state, it’s your body and spirit telling you: “This is aligned with who you really are.”
There’s no forcing, no pretending, no putting on a brave face. It’s just you, showing up as yourself, doing what feels natural.
The cumulative effect of spending more time in these states is profound. Each hour spent in activities that energize rather than drain you creates a compound interest of wellbeing.
You become more resilient, more creative, more present, and ultimately, more you.
The Cumulative Effect: Small Changes, Big Impact
Imagine what happens when you increase your Energy Boosters and Flow activities by just 10% each week:
- Week 1: You might notice slightly improved mood and energy levels
- Month 1: Others start commenting on your changed demeanor
- Month 3: Your baseline happiness level has noticeably shifted
- Month 6: You’ve fundamentally changed your relationship with energy management
- Year 1: Your life is unrecognizable in the best possible way
I know this is what happened for me when I started doing more activities that boosted my energy and work that put me in a natural flow state. These things also happened to be aligned with my purpose, creating a holistic sense of authenticity, sustained happiness, and deeper success.
This isn’t about dramatic overnight transformations – it’s about the steady accumulation of moments spent in alignment with your true self.
The Practical Part: Getting More of the Good Stuff
So how do you practically increase these positive forces in your life? Here’s your action plan:
- Identify Your Personal Energy Boosters: Take 10 minutes to list everything that genuinely energizes you. Don’t overthink it – if it gives you energy, it counts!
- Map Your Flow States: Next, identify when you experience that effortless “flow” feeling.
- Calendar Commitment: This is where the magic happens! Schedule at least one Energy Booster activity and one Flow activity into each day of the coming week. Treat these appointments as non-negotiable meetings with yourself. Start small – even 15 minutes of a Flow activity can shift your entire day.
- Weekly Review & Adjust: At the end of each week, review how these activities affected your overall energy and authenticity. What patterns do you notice? Which activities had the biggest impact? Adjust your approach based on what you learn.
Navigating Obstacles
“But I don’t have time for this!”
I hear you.
The beautiful paradox is that by spending time in Energy Boosting and Flow activities, you actually create more time. You become more efficient, more creative, and more resilient – which means you accomplish more with less effort.
Start by replacing just one energy draining activity with an energy boosting one. Trade 30 minutes of mindless scrolling for 30 minutes of that novel you’ve been wanting to read.
Switch one obligation-driven coffee date for a walk with someone who truly energizes you.
The Authenticity Ripple Effect
As you align more of your life with your Energy Boosters and Flow states, something remarkable happens. Your authenticity creates permission for others to be authentic too.
Your joy becomes contagious.
Your boundaries become clearer.
Your contributions become more meaningful.
This isn’t just self-care – it’s world-care. Because when you show up as your energized, flowing, authentic self, you create space for others to do the same.
